When I was a kid growin up in the sixties, that’s when I first heard of Vietnam. I didn’t know a whole lot about it, but I knew that there was a war goin on.

Every night on the evenin news, they use to read the names of the soldiers who died. My mother use to get, so upset, sometimes I thought she was gona cry.

Some people I knew when they came back from the war, their whole lives had changed. And others I knew when they came back from the war, everything seemed to be about the same.

A friend of mine’s brother was sittin on the porch, when he was home on leave. I asked him what it was like over there, you should have saw the dirty look that he gave me.

Many people protested the war, and others thought it was right. I myself didn’t know what to think, but I respected the ones who had to fight.
